About the API
Nomegestrol acetate belongs to a class of steroid hormones called progestins, which are synthetic analogues of the naturally-occurring hormone progesterone. It is an oral contraceptive that can be used alone or in combination with estradiol. Nomegestrol acetate is characterized by high selectivity, binding to and activating the progesterone receptor to inhibit ovulation.
Nomegestrol acetate, abbreviated as NOMAC, was first introduced in the mid-1980s and is used in the treatment of gynecological disorders, in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopausal symptoms, and in hormonal contraceptives
